1 Peter Chapter 4

1: Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;
2: That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.
3: For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:
4: Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:
5: Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead.
6: For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.

7: But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.

1 Peter 4:1-7
Verse 1: (review from last week)
• Don't fight and resist God's will whether it be suffering
• "Suffer" may not necessarily mean pain infliction. It may mean something that God permits to test you and see what you're made of.
Verse 1 can be seen in 2 ways:
1. when you're suffering, it's less likely that you'll sin
2. suffering is a result of you not sinning (such as being abandoned by the world)

Verse 6:
• Jesus' sacrifice is enough once and for all because he's not only equal to men as in flesh, he's greater than men because he is God manifested
Verse 7:
• "The END of all things." The word, "end" puts this verse in the tribulation settings. This means way to salvation will be different from today.
• Hebrews 3:6, 14 "hold things unto the end" that doesn’t apply to you if you're saved.
• Eph 1:13-14, 4:30, 2:5-6 Holy Spirit living inside you is the "Earnest" of What God is planning to provide you in future.
• Literal application of verse 7 doesn’t apply to us, Christians, but the figurative application applies. "Have and form good relationship with God."
