Survival in a World Filled with Pain PDF Print E-mail

When we go through pain in life, it really hurts us.  We don't want to face anything that will be hard for us.  Many Christians may whine and groan about the struggles they are going through in life.  Some probably think that their spiritual service for God is not easy, but rather painful.  This can include Bible-reading, soul-winning, or suffering.  A fact for mankind is that no one in our society wants to face anything uncomfortable in life.  Whenever something something makes us feel uneasy, we tend to run away from it.  That is the reason why many Christians backslide, yield to the flesh, complain, or quit out on God.  If you want to survive in this world filled with pain, this message is for you.

Romans 5:17

For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.

Amos 8:11-14:
Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD:  And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it.  In that day shall the fair virgins and young men faint for thirst.  They that swear by the sin of Samaria, and say, Thy god, O Dan, liveth; and, The manner of Beersheba liveth; even they shall fall, and never rise up again.

  1. Undone with the Words of God (vs. 11)
  2. One from the Words of God (vs. 12)
  3. None of the Words of God (vs.13-14)

This is a sermon that I preached during the 4th Anniversary of Bible Believer's Baptist Church under Pastor Joshua Stephenson in San Diego, California. Praise the Lord that four souls were saved from the flames after hearing this message.  May this preaching also stir your heart about the awful damnation of hell.

Luke 12:5:  But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.

Isaiah 61:1-3

 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;
 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;
 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.

  2. Jesus Touches the Hearts of All Broken (vs. 2)

1 Peter 4:16-19:

Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf. For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.

  2. Exemption from Our Sin (vs. 18)
  3. Encumbrance of Our Savior (vs. 19)
